Abergele Community Action is a local, community based registered charity, governed by a Board of Trustees who have a collective wide range of skills and experience with a passion to make real change, not only in individual lives, but also in the community.
Mission Statement
Abergele Community Action works with the local community to deliver life-changing, sustainable projects to meet the demands of social and economic inclusion - providing people with the support and encouragement to lessen dependency and improve physical and emotional wellbeing.
We uphold the values of compassion, justice, dignity, and community with the strategic goal of ending the need for our services, whilst recognising that we will serve people in the community for as long as we are needed.
Linda Tavernor is the Company Secretary and is responsible for finance and funding. Linda has many years’ experience of managing community projects including developing and delivering them, as well as sourcing and applying for funding. Linda has a passion for justice and has always worked in the community to provide opportunities and activities which enable people to fulfil their potential.
Our Trustees:
Tracey Brennan chairs the board and is committed to improving opportunities and facilities for local people. She lives in Abergele and serves on the Town Council. She has a local retail business and has many years of management experience.
Richard Tavernor is Director of a successful software development company with expertise in management, finance and marketing.
Charles Martin McCoubrey is a local businessman with experience in the housing market. He sits on the Town Council and is currently leader of Conwy County Borough Council.
Alan Hunter has worked for a local business and sits on the Town Council and is a member of Conwy County Borough Council. He has a commitment to and passion for the local community.
Amy Woolley is an active member of the community. She is married with two children who attend the local school. She is committed to improving opportunities for people in the community.
Dominic Davies is Student/Junior Researcher for the Welsh Conservative Party
Dr Mark Baker has spent over twenty five years working in heritage restoration, community projects and fundraising. Much of his work has focused on Gwrych Castle, developing it into a major heritage and tourism destination, but he's also been involved in a range of local and regional initiatives that support education, wellbeing and employment. He is keen to help Abergele Community Action continue its important work within the town and to contribute wherever he can.
Mark Jones is an experienced community volunteer and advocate for inclusion, accessibility, and social engagement across North Wales. He brings extensive experience in community development through his involvement with Abergele Rotary Club — having served as President, Secretary, and Foundation Chair — and as a Transport Ambassador for Learning Disability Wales’ Gig Buddies Cymru project. Mark has strong skills in organisation, communication, and partnership building, with a proven record of supporting local initiatives that reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.
His lived experience of disability gives him valuable insight into the challenges faced by local residents, and he is passionate about ensuring Abergele Community Action remains inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs.
